Muscles & their actions have maps in the brain. The more we use them, the more our brain remembers them. As we stop using them because of pain or poor posture or post surgery, they start losing that imprint from our brain. Once that imprint is lost , we have to facilitate or activate that muscle imprint in the brain. Physiotherapists use different techniques to activate a muscle such as Taping, Soft tissue release or even Joint Mobilisations. Once the Muscle restores its map, it helps us to carry out our daily acts without any trouble. For small muscles we often use slow controlled movements & for larger muscles, we can use a combination of slow & fast movements depending on what we want to achieve.
Exercise Prescription is given by a physiotherapist to prescribe therapeutic exercises. A Physiotherapist prescribes exercise only after detailed assessment & consideration of numerous individual factors. Do not start exercises for treatment purpose on your own.
